What Are PP Floor Protection Sheets?

PP floor protection sheets — also called temporary floor protection sheets or correx protection board — are made from corrugated polypropylene sheet, a twin-wall board that is waterproof, light and easy to lay. It is a new type of environmental material: polypropylene is non-toxic and 100% recyclable at end of life.

The 2 mm, 2.5 mm and 3 mm boards are the ones most used on renovation, reconstruction and building projects, protecting floors, stairs and windows from damage — especially while furniture and equipment are being moved through. Because the board is rigid rather than floppy, it takes the impact that a dust sheet cannot.

Select the Right Floor Protection for Your Surface

Our floor protection comes as flat boards or as rolls. Both install without tools, cover large areas quickly, and can be cut, bent and creased to fit the most awkward spaces — around door frames, stair treads and window reveals.

Durable

High strength, wear resistance and good impact resistance.

Waterproof

Waterproof and moisture-proof, will not deform, keeps damp off the floor.

Anti-Slip

Surface anti-slip treatment reduces slips during the works.

Fire-Resistant Grade

Flame-retardant grade available where the site requires it.

Lightweight

The hollow structure is light, so your crew works faster.

Reusable

Used again site after site — the cost drops on every project.

Easy To Clean

Wipe or wash it down — the dirt comes straight off.

100% Recyclable

Made of polypropylene — recyclable, no treated waste.

PP Protection Board vs Traditional Site Materials

Most sites still protect floors with masonry board, cardboard or dust sheeting. Each has a weakness that costs money: masonry board is heavy and curls when wet, cardboard goes soft and mouldy and is thrown away after one use, and dust sheeting only stops dust — it does nothing about a dropped tool. Here is the honest comparison.

Item PP Corrugated Sheet (ours) Masonite Cardboard Dust Cloth / Film
Weight Light — one person carries a stack Heavy — tiring to move Light Very light
Water 100% waterproof, will not curl Edges curl and deform when wet Goes soft, mouldy Soaks through
Impact Takes dropped tools and cart traffic Good Poor None — tears
Reuse Reused dozens of times A few times if kept dry Single use Single use
Total cost Lowest per project once reused High freight and labour Cheap to buy, costly to replace Looks cheap, replaces often

How to Choose the Right Thickness?

Job type Thickness Format Notes
Light work — painting, decorating, foot traffic 2 – 3 mm Sheets Light to carry, easy to cut with a craft knife, covers a room fast. The standard choice for residential renovation.
Heavy work — scaffolding, carts, dropped tools 4 mm + Sheets Stiffer under point loads; 5–12 mm for machinery, storage racking and repeated heavy traffic.
Long corridors and open areas 2 mm Rolls Continuous covering with minimal seams — far faster to install than laying sheet by sheet.
Stairs, ramps, polished floors 2 – 4 mm Non-slip face Textured surface grips, so the sheet cannot slide into a trip hazard.
Electronic plants, clean rooms, exhibitions 2 – 4 mm Anti-static / printed Anti-static grade in electronics areas; printed colour, logo and arrows where the public sees the floor.

How to Lay It Properly?

Four steps. The first one is the one people skip — and it is the reason a "protected" floor sometimes comes out scratched.

1. Clear the floor first

Sweep away sand, grit and screws. Any particle left under the board turns into sandpaper — walking over it scratches the floor you are protecting.

2. Lay across the traffic

Run the flutes perpendicular to the direction people walk. It feels firmer underfoot and the board is less likely to deform.

3. Tape the seams

Use wide tape along the joints, pressed flat and firm. It stops corners curling into a trip hazard and stops liquid seeping underneath.

4. Walk the whole area

After laying, walk every square metre. Check for bulges, lifted edges and loose joints before the work starts, not after.

Where Our Floor Protection Is Used?

Construction & Fit-Out

Strong and friction-resistant, it stops heavy objects hitting the slab — tough enough to bend round corners without cracking.

Renovation & Home Decorating

Long-lasting protection for floors, stairs, doors, windows and walls; light, tear- and puncture-resistant, cut and creased to fit any surface.

Warehouse & Logistics

Racking being dragged and forklifts running back and forth scratch the floor — a layer of board costs far less than remaking it.

Exhibitions & Events

Colour, logo and directional arrows printed on the sheet — protects the hall floor and promotes your brand at the same time.

Electronics & Clean Rooms

Anti-static and ESD grades for electronic warehouses and assembly areas, where a static discharge costs more than the flooring.

Stairs, Ramps & Polished Floors

Non-slip textured sheet for anywhere a sliding board would become a trip hazard — stairs, ramps, marble and polished concrete.

Why Choose us?

Shandong Flutepak Industry Co., Ltd. runs a 50,000 m² plant with 16 fully automatic PP hollow board extrusion lines and an annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes. High-precision die-cutting, ultrasonic welding, automatic heat-sealing and full-colour printing all sit in the same plant, so output and quality are controlled from extrusion through to packing.

Quality inspection runs through every stage: sample preparation, raw material, mixing, board extrusion, die-cutting, printing, assembly, packing, warehousing and shipping. Each stage is sampled and checked, which is why a re-order six months later matches the batch you approved — the problem of inconsistent quality between batches simply does not reach you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the PP floor protection sheet be used on carpets?

Yes — it works well on carpet. The smooth, waterproof face stops spills from staining, and because the board is rigid it prevents heavy furniture or equipment leaving indentations when it sits in one place for days.

What is the difference between a floor protection sheet and a drop cloth?

A floor protection sheet is hard and strong: it takes falling objects and scratches, survives carts and ladders being wheeled and stood on it, and can be reused dozens of times. A drop cloth or plastic film is soft and thin — it blocks dust and paint droplets, but it tears as soon as it is stepped on and is effectively single use.

How do I choose the right thickness?

Use 2–3 mm for light work and 4 mm or more for heavy work. For format, use sheets for small areas and rolls for large ones. And match the type to the task: standard sheet for general use, non-slip for stairs and ramps, and a printed sheet where you want your logo on the floor.

Do you supply rolls as well as flat sheets?

Yes. Rolls are the efficient answer for corridors and open areas — you unroll a continuous covering to the length you need, which minimises seams and speeds up installation. Ask us for the available roll widths and maximum length in the gauge you want.

Can you print our logo or safety message on the sheet?

Yes. We print in colour on the sheet surface — logo, directional arrows or safety wording. It protects the floor and advertises your company at the same time, which is why exhibition and fit-out contractors ask for it.

Do you have anti-static and flame-retardant grades?

Both are available. Anti-static and ESD grades suit electronic warehouses and assembly areas; the flame-retardant grade is used where the site fire plan requires it. Tell us the standard you must meet and we will quote the matching grade.

How many times can the sheet be reused?

The board itself is reusable many times over — the limit is usually handling, not the material. Wipe or wash it down after a job, stack it flat and it is ready for the next site. That reuse is what makes the total cost lower than disposable protection.

Can we get a free sample before ordering?

Yes. Tell us the thickness, size, colour and any special grade and we will arrange a free sample — quoted within 24 hours, shipped in 3 days for standard sizes, 5–7 days for a custom or printed sample.

Are You Ready to Protect Your Floors Properly?

Send us the area, the surface, the traffic and how long the job runs. We will recommend the thickness and grade — and send a free sample before you commit.
