Plastic layer pads are made of corrugated polypropylene sheet, with four sides and corners sealed or welded to guarantee optimum hygiene. They are widely used in the beverage and glass bottle industry as a divider sheet between bottles or cans for stacking.
Also called plastic separator sheets or pallet layer pads, they are designed to provide stable separation between product layers — preventing shifting, distributing load pressure and protecting goods during handling, storage and transport. They are lightweight, moisture-resistant, washable and reusable.

Thickness is decided by the load, not by habit. Over-specifying only adds weight and freight cost; under-specifying collapses the stack. Use this as a starting point:

Note on slip sheets: a slip sheet sits at the bottom of the whole pallet to replace the pallet — it does not carry load between layers. A layer pad sits between every layer of goods. If you need both, tell us and we will quote them together.

Layer pad processing uses ultrasonic welding, automatic nail-box linkage lines and our own automatic heat-bonding process — products come out cleaner and more environmentally sound than glued alternatives. Fully automatic edge sealing applies four-side hot-melt technology, which is what makes the pad genuinely waterproof, moisture-proof and dust-proof rather than just nominally sealed.

How to choose the right thickness for plastic layer pads? |
|
Light goods (empty cans, plastic bottles, small parts): 3 mm is enough. Medium and heavy goods (glass bottles filled with beverage, filled cans): 4 mm. Heavy goods (auto parts, mechanical parts, multi-layer heavy stacking): 5 mm or above. For very heavy goods or tall stacks, consider a double-layer structure — it roughly doubles strength with only a slight weight increase. |

Plastic layer pad vs slip sheet — what is the difference? |
|
A layer pad is a divider placed between each layer of goods, to distribute pressure and stop goods crushing or puncturing each other. A slip sheet sits at the bottom of the whole pallet to replace the pallet — it carries no load between layers and mainly makes handling easier. |

Can PP layer pads be printed or branded? |
|
Yes — this is one of the main advantages of hollow board packaging. We do screen printing and UV flatbed printing. Your logo, product information, QR code, barcode and handling instructions can all be printed on the pad. Many customers print their brand mark directly on the layer pad. |

What are typical lead times for custom layer pads? |
|
Regular orders ship in about 7–10 days. Orders with printing (silk screen or UV) take 10–15 days. Large orders from tens of thousands of pieces take 15–20 days, depending on the production schedule. With 30,000 tons annual capacity, capacity is rarely the constraint. |

Can we get food-contact grade pads, and what proof do you provide? |
|
Yes. Food-contact grades are produced from food-grade raw material and tested by SGS, with FDA US standard certification, under an ISO 9001 quality system. Ask for the test report for the specific grade you are buying — check the report, not the claim. |

How many times can a layer pad be reused? |
|
It depends on load and handling, but edge-sealed pads routinely run through hundreds of rotations in beverage and canning lines. Because the pad is washed and reused rather than discarded, the cost per use falls to a fraction of a single-use cardboard divider. |
